How SKILLINGS Education Courses Count:
Claimable (Self-Assessed)

Solicitors must complete 10 CPD units each year and at least 1 unit in each core area: Practical Legal Ethics, Practice Management & Business Skills, and Professional Skills. You can claim 1 unit per hour (smallest fraction 0.5 unit) where learning is directly related to the practice of law and delivered by suitably qualified presenters. Keep a certificate/record for audit and log units in myQLS. (We are not affiliated with QLS.)

Annual CPD Requirements
10 CPD units per CPD year (1 Apr–31 Mar); ≥1 unit in each core area (PLE, PM&BS, PS). Units earned Jan–Mar may be counted in either the current or the next CPD year (not both).
Specifics
1 unit = 1 hour (round down to nearest 0.5). Approved CPD must be of significant intellectual/practical content, primarily related to legal practice, delivered by qualified presenters, and relevant to your development.

Can SKILLINGS Education Courses Count?
Yes — Claimable (Self-Assessed). Typically formal if the course is structured with stated learning outcomes; otherwise claim as informal. 1 hour learning = 1 CPD hour.
How to Claim/Recording Keeping
Record CPD in myQLS → CPD History; retain evidence. QLS conducts random CPD audits and may request details (date, provider, format, description, core area, reasons).
Types of Activities Accepted

Seminars, conferences, webinars/on-demand, formal discussion groups, online learning, preparing/presenting, publishing, committee work (with category caps as per guide).

Evidence Needed
Receipts/attendance records, notes, certificate/statement with name, date, duration; provide on audit if requested.
Assessment Required
Not required by QLS; credit is time-based per the guide.

Legal Profession Act 2007 (Qld) and QLS Administration Rule 2005 (Part 6).
